Criminal defence from the first hour

Police summons, house search or indictment: we defend you in confidence and stay with the case, through to appeal if needed.

Most of our clients had never dealt with the justice system before. From our first conversation you have someone on your side who knows how criminal proceedings work.

Police at the door or a summons in the letterbox? This is what to do:

  1. 1. Remain silent. Do not make any statement about the matter, not even “harmless” explanations. It is your right, and it never harms you.
  2. 2. Do not sign anything. This includes records of statements and declarations of consent, until a lawyer has checked them.
  3. 3. Call us. At night and at weekends, too, on +49 172 828 85 82. Within minutes we will tell you what to do next.

About

Andreas Müller, specialist lawyer for criminal law

For more than 25 years I have defended clients at every stage of criminal proceedings, from the first phone call after a search to the main trial before the criminal courts. I tell you where you stand, even when the news is unwelcome. And what you tell me stays with me.

I have seen too often how an investigation throws someone’s life off course, at work and at home. So from our first phone call you should know what lies ahead, what I will do for you and what it will cost.

I studied law in Augsburg, Munich, Salzburg and Innsbruck. While still a student I worked at a Munich firm specialising in administrative law, where I learned how to negotiate with public authorities. I completed my legal traineeship in Munich, with my elective placement at a criminal law firm.

After the second state examination I started out as a criminal defence lawyer and also taught exam candidates at the Hemmer revision course. I then spent ten years as a partner in a business law firm, where I headed the criminal law department. Since 2023 I have worked as a sole practitioner, sharing offices with attorney Jella von Wiarda, and opened a branch office in Rosenheim. Clients now also come to me from Austria and Switzerland.

How we work with you

  1. First contact & assessment

You describe your case by phone, by e-mail or through the contact form. You then get an initial legal assessment.

  2. Inspection of files & strategy

We request access to the case file, review the evidence and decide with you how to proceed.

  3. Representation to the end

We attend police interviews and the trial with you in person. You hear about new developments from us without having to ask.

Proceedings discontinued after voluntary disclosure and negotiations with the tax authority.

Allegation

Drink driving

Outcome

Evidence excluded because of a procedural error in taking the blood sample. Acquitted.

Frequently asked questions

What clients ask us most often

Do I have to attend a police summons?

As a suspect you do not have to go to the police or make a statement. A summons from the public prosecutor or the court is different. We check this before you respond. More in our article “Summoned by the police”.

Will my employer find out about the proceedings?

Usually not. It is different if the police search your workplace or a conviction triggers professional reporting duties. We discuss the risks in your case with you early on.

What happens if I remain silent?

Nothing. The court may not use your silence against you. Until your defence has read the file, silence is almost always the safest reaction.

How long do criminal proceedings take?

That depends on the allegation. A case can be dropped after a few weeks, while white-collar proceedings often take more than a year. Once we have seen the file, we tell you what to expect.

What does the defence cost?

The first conversation is without obligation. Afterwards we tell you the expected costs before you decide. On request we agree a flat fee instead of an hourly rate.
